Chana Rothman
Chana Rothman is an educator, singer, songwriter, and activist based in Philadelphia, PA. Chana's relationship to camp stretches back to her childhood at Camp Northway Lodge in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada, where she experienced biodegradable soap (washing in the lake), singing around a fire, paddling a canoe, and living in a tent. As mom to three very active boys who are enthusiastic Jewish campers, a dual Canadian/US citizen, and a song leader/songwriter, she carries her love of Judaism, the outdoors, creativity, young people, and of course, Jewish camp. Chana has been a song leader and artist in residence at summer camps, youth groups (NFTY/BBYO), and synagogues. She has traveled globally as a Jewish musician, from South Africa to Germany and Israel. Chana often has the honor of writing the annual Cornerstone song. Some of her Cornerstone songs include "Simplify" (2011), "Ayeka" (2012), and "Grow" (2022). You can find her on Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Her music encompasses themes of justice, gender liberation, and care for the earth, often in English and Hebrew. Ask her how camping hammocks have changed her life.
